2020 Advent Devotions
Tuesday, December 1 - Cindy Duck
Matthew 4: 23 “Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness among the people.”
This verse speaks of Jesus teaching, preaching and healing, but my focus is on the healing which has brought great joy – and thankfulness – to me on many occasions. It’s the kind of joy I’ve felt when a close friend or family member has experienced a major injury or illness and then been healed. Yes, the “on-site” healing was done by the doctors, nurses, and other caregivers, but I believe that those healers are trained and sent through God – and I definitely believe that those healings are helped by the prayers of many. A nephew who was injured; a grandson who was critically ill – both enjoy good health today and bring joy to their families and friends. I’ve known several people who were “healed” through organ donations and granted many extra years of life; again, more chances to bring joy to themselves and to the lives of those around them. Thank you, God, for these added years of great joy in their lives!
Prayer: Thank you, Heavenly Father, for your gift of healing as we continue to pray for those in need of that healing touch today. Amen.
