2020 Advent Devotions

Wednesday, December 9 - Marie Krall

Psalm 128, verses 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 “Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him.  You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours.  Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children
will be like olive shoots around your table. Yes, this will be the blessing for the man who fears the Lord … May you live to see your children’s children-
peace be on Israel.”

The birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ, was indeed “Good News of Great Joy”.  It is also part of a very firm foundation of our religious beliefs.  When I focus on how God’s joy became real in my life, I would have to speak about how that joy impacted my own life.

In 2011, we received the news that we were going to be grandparents. “Good News of Great Joy”, indeed!  On April 30, 2012, Colton Matthew Heebner came into this world at around 5 pm in the afternoon and was in my arms by 6 pm.  That moment was magical and I felt the presence of God through that baby. I knew my life would be changed forever.

Since then four more precious grandbabies have been added.  Every time I am with them, I see the work of God bestowing on me more joy than I can put into words.  Every time I touch them or hold them or kiss them I feel God’s joy and it has made my life a thousand times better and has taught me to savor each and every moment of being a Grandmother.
That joy has also spilled out into all aspects of my life so that I may “pay it forward”.

Prayer:  Heavenly father, thank you for all the blessings and steadfast love you have
bestowed on us. Amen.
