About Family Promise
Family Promise is a nonprofit organization serving homeless families through an Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN). Their mission is to empower families through relationships and skill building to move from homelessness to home. The IHN coordinates local communities of faith, partner agencies, businesses, volunteers, and community leaders to provide compassionate care, hospitality, professional support, lodging, meals, donated goods, and volunteers. Set-up
Prior to when guests arrive, volunteers will meet at the church to set up the rooms and fellowship area.
Meal Preparation/Evening Hosts
Hosts will provide a meal for up to 14 guests as well as for yourself and any other volunteers. Once the meal has been served, you will join the families in fellowship and conversation. You are there to provide hospitality and a welcoming, loving environment. This volunteer role can be shared as a family or with other church friends.
Overnight Hosts
This is an easy job, as your main responsibility is to get a good night's sleep!
Take-down Volunteers
We need volunteers on Sunday to take down the rooms and set them back up for Sunday School.
Laundry Volunteers
At the conclusion of the week, volunteers take home bed linens, launder, and return to the church.
Van Drivers
Transport the guests each morning and evening to and from the Day Center in Lemoyne.
