Grief Ministry
“The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement,
who can tolerate not knowing … not healing, not curing… that is a friend who cares”. --- Henri Nouwen

All of us face times of grief in our life, as loss is unavoidable. We grieve the loss of friend, family member, partner or pet: a marriage, friendship or another form of kinship: your home, neighborhood or community: your job or career; financial stability; a dream or goal; good health and much more. No one grieves the same, and there is no right or wrong way to grieve. That is why our Grief Ministry Team offers a variety of resources and ways for you to connect with others who are on a similar journey.
Grief Support Class
Twice a year (spring and fall), our Grief Ministry Team offers a 4-week Grief Support Class. These classes are held in the evenings, and participants can attend multiple sessions.
Cup/Mug of Hope
A few weeks following a member's loss, the Grief Ministry Team delivers a tea cup or mug and a journal that you can use to set time aside to reflect, grieve, and write about your experience and/or feelings.
Monday Morning Messages
Anyone experiencing a loss can sign to receive these bi-weekly emails that contain comforting messages and scripture for those grieving.
Food and Fellowship
Grief can be lonely, and it is sometimes hard to reach out to others for the support you need. Once a month, our Grief Ministry Team plans a meal out for any who want to attend. (There is both a lunch and dinner time each month.) People may discuss the grief they are dealing with at these meals - or they might not - and both are OK! The goal is to provide a time to share a meal and good company.
Resource Library
Books, websites, counselor referrals, and other resources are all available in the church lounge. We also hold periodic workshops.
For more information on our Grief Ministry offerings, please contact the church office and speak to Pastor Martha.
