Christian Education is an important part of who we are as Jesus disciples and who we are here at Trindle Spring. On Sunday mornings we have educational opportunities for all ages, and we encourage you to find an opportunity that fits you. Below are brief descriptions of our current Sunday morning offerings.
Children’s and Youth Classes
Nursery: Nursery services are provided during the Sunday School hour for children up to three years of age. Our nursery is also staffed during 10:30am worship service for children up to five years of age.
Elementary Age classes: Children age three through 6th grade participate in our Sunday morning Spark classes. Each week this curriculum explores one of the lectionary Bible stories for the morning. There is a class for 3- and 4-year-olds, one for kids K-3, and another for kids in grades 4-6.
Confirmation: This class prepares youth to affirm their baptism, usually at the end of ninth grade. Seventh and eighth grade youth meet Sunday mornings; one year focuses on the Bible and the other on the Small Catechism. As ninth graders, youth attend the High School Sunday school class, but continue their confirmation classes once a month, in which they focus on discovering how God has uniquely gifted each of them for life and ministry and on aspects of Lutheran worship and church structure.
High School: This class invites 9-12th grade youth to gather in a relaxed atmosphere to explore their faith on a deeper level and how that faith intersects with their daily life, using a variety of curriculum and resources.
Vacation Bible School: Every summer TSLC hosts a week of VBS for kids 3 years old through 5th grade. Each year is a new theme and the evening consists of dinner, music, games, snack, crafts, and a Bible lesson.
Adult Classes
Young at Heart Class: This class is a Bible Study class that follows the lectionary reading (the readings we use in worship). Grounded in the Scripture readings for the given Sunday helps the participants to gain more meaning from the Bible passages and sermon.
Young Adult Class: This class uses “Wired Word” curriculum to look at and discuss current topics and events through a biblical lens, exploring how our faith affects the way we see and interact with our world.
The Far Side Class: This class engages their faith through book study. They will take books written by Christian authors and explore the book, its theology, and how it applies it to their lives.
Adult VBS: Each year during July Trindle Spring has its Vacation Bible School. Here it’s not just for the kids, though. Each night starts with dinner all together, and then the adults head off for their own study. It is usually a book of the Bible or another faith topic.
Look in the newsletter or bulletin for other short term classes that are offered throughout the year..
Growing Faith at Home: TSLC offers many opportunities for growth that take place at the church. But growing in our faith also needs to take place at home. Here at Trindle Spring we offer devotional booklets, web links, and facebook posts.
