Outreach
Part of Trindle Spring's mission statement says that we are "led by the Spirit in love for one another and the world." Reaching out to our community and the world is simply what we are called to do as Christians. That happens in different ways, and by through partnerships with a number of organizations. Here are some of the main ways we seek to have a positive impact on the community.
Community Aid - You can take your items directly now to their store in Mechanicsburg and give them our Partner #10139. Trindle Spring will receive credit for your donations.
Family Promise - This organization keeps families together as they go through the difficulties of homelessness. As a congregation, we partner with Family Promise to house these families a few times a year and provide them with a safe comfortable place to sleep, food, and transportation to the ministry's day center. Learn more about our upcoming Family Promise hosting week.
Missionary Support - Trindle Spring Lutheran currently sponsors two ELCA missionary teams. The first missionary couple is Stephen Deal and Marta Giron. They live in San Jose, Costa Rica (Central America) and minister in El Salvador, Guatemala, Costa Rica & Honduras. The second couple is Rev. Viking & Marissa Dietrich. They serve in Europe, the Middle East and in North Africa.
New Hope Ministries - TSLC collects food on a weekly basis for the work of New Hope Ministry. We participate in their annual walk to raise funds, and we support their work in a number of other ways.
Second Saturday Meals - These meals are free for the community, and at times we serve as many as 300 people. People from around the area come to this meal because they are hungry, lonely, or just because they like the food. It takes volunteers who prep, cook, serve, set up, and cleanup in order to make this meal a success. View the menu and details for the upcoming Second Saturday Meal.
Shawl Ministry - Members of the congregation who knit and crochet make shawls that are prayed over, blessed during worship, and then personally delivered to individuals who could use the extra support and reminder of God's love and presence. TSLC also sends a number of these prayer shawls out to the families of veterans killed in action.
Quilting - Quilters from around the country make quilts for Lutheran World Relief. On average, our quilters make 250 quilts each year that we bless in worship and that will later be shipped all over the world to those in need of warmth and shelter.
